Going Home - Part One

Yeah so I went to Cape Town last week Thursday. Man, if that was not a surreal experience then I dont what is. Okay before I get ahead of myself let me break the situation down for you so at least we know what we're dealing with here. If you have any idea about the Xhosa tradition then you will know that to become a 'man' you need to go to the 'bush' to get circumcised. This is a process that all Xhosa men have to go through to reach manhood. Now I have a cousin who had just gone for the last month and came out over the weekend. Oh, I'm not Xhosa(my mom is Xhosa my dad is Tswana) so I havent done this myself but I have done the neccessary adjustments to Rumpleforeskin. Anyway moving swiftly along

We got to the airport midday and bumped into one of Pi's friends who we aint seen in ages. He was actually on the same flight as us. Anyway so we rappin about the old days and shit... ...and then next thing you know this minivan trcuk thing just bursts into smoke all over the place. Hello Random! Poor chap.Anyway so we gots the moving on and we took full advantage of the drinks served. We got sooo twisted. I dont even remember how many of those little bottle of whiskey I had but thay were enought to get me and Pi to start making stooopid poses. "You must be another Handsome Boy Graduate." HAHA!
I've been flying since the early 90's and to this day I still am scared of heights. Who knows why? I might look like Dick Steele on the outside but I'm shitting a ton of bricks on the inside. At least the liquor helps to relieve the tension.Yeah so my brother Pablo scooped us up from the airport and just kept bitching about the amount of administration he's had to go through in preparation of the celebrations. I had a feeling that I wasnt going to really enjoy this trip.

Home sweet home. What a sight for sore eyes I tell ya!

So we decided to get some chow and landed up in town by the Green Market Square and tryed to look for a spot to chill. I will say that the Mother City still does not disappoint with the amount of eye-candy there is to go around.

Bumped into Bo...

..and Sneed, Melz and Casual fresh from Germany.

Anyway, we didnt find any decent places at all so we decided to go back to our roots and go check out Putney's Kitchen in Kenilworth for the most AMAZING chicken you'll ever eat. Dude, I kid you not that chicken is so blazing! When you reach for the drum stick, it just slides right off of the meat cause its sooo good. Mmmmmmh. I recommend if you're ever in Cape Town to go check that place out. Seeeriuuus! And straight afterwards...

...we got ourselves a little mellow with the oooh-wee! Pablo doing the deed that needs to be done.

So anyway we knew we were in for quite a weekend so Casual and I decided that we're goinsta hit the streetz and see what the gonzo is and possibly get very drunk and then get into the festivities a little bit...

...we started off at the Channel O Music Conference. Actually we got there very late and we ended up just chilling in the lounge area sippin on some drinks and shit. I dont know why but this pic looks very artsy innit?

P had a hard time trying to get a hold of is honey. I think the phone in that place dont work right or something. What is this 2006 and the phones STILL dont work? Sheesh!

The congregation. I have no idea who the females in the front are.

So I havent been to Cape Town in a while but I had heard that no matter what, if you're on Long Street then you'll always end up at Marvel. Well no points for guessing where we were.

Sneed and that-other-girl. I keep forgetting her name. Ah well...

Casual getting his M.A.C.K. on. Do your thang soldier! The photo doesnt do her justice, but she's quite a banger.

Okay so at this point in time it was about 3:30 in the morning. We had to be out in Langa at 4 in the morning to get my cousin(who will be known from here on out as Nas) out from his hut or whatever. Yes I know it sounds strange but I too had a rather surreal experience throughout it all. Uno momento mochacho...

To Be Continued.

Aaaah. Glad you had a good time in the old cradle. So, if you're from the mountain town, how come you're lurking in Jozi?

Well I came here purely to work. I did some of Primary school and all of High school that side. I was initially meant to be in London but things happened and I ended up here. But hey, I'm not complaining. I love this city!

just reread your post and yeah, im sooo scared of heights. Even tho ive been flying forever... i have to get on these insey weensy little charter planes in TZN and Kenya and i freak out cause they feel so unstable and everyone laughs at me (my collugues that is), no amount of liqor can make that experience less terrrifying.

Ps..
"You must be another Handsome Boy Graduate" - i have that CD, nice nice... love it. ha ha always puts a smile on my face :):)
